Baredine Cave & Traktor Story
Step into a mysterious underground world shaped by nature over thousands of years — hidden from daylight and human eyes. Visit the fascinating Baredine Cave, a true natural wonder of Istria.
Baredine Cave is a geological treasure trove of stalactites and stalagmites — underground sculptures formed slowly and patiently by water. Due to its exceptional value, it has been declared a natural monument and has been open to visitors since 1995. The guided tour leads you through five magnificent chambers down to an underground lake, where you can encounter the elusive olm (Proteus anguinus), an endemic amphibian of the karst region.
In addition to this natural attraction, your visit includes a stop at “Traktor Story”, an open-air museum dedicated to Istria’s agricultural heritage. The collection includes over 50 vintage tractors, along with an engaging story about the Mediterranean trilogy – wheat and bread, olive oil, and wine – showcasing traditional life in this region.
